New Super Luigi U Available Now Digitally, Arrives This August At Retail

Nintendo’s “Year of Luigi” keeps on rolling with the green-clad brother starring in his very own game, New Super Luigi U, headed to the Wii U.

If you happen to be rocking a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U for the Wii U, you can download New Super Luigi U as DLC for the game starting today off of the Nintendo eShop. Otherwise, a physical version of the game will be available in stores starting Aug. 25.

In New Super Luigi U, players will tackle more than 80 new levels that have been tweaked to make them nice and challenging, according to the official launch statement from the Big N, giving gamers plenty to do, to accomplish and to overcome without having to worry about additional DLC to extend the gameplay..

New Super Luigi U is designed to test the capabilities of seasoned gamers and fans of the series, with the simple act of traveling to the Goal Pole at the end of each course remixed with seemingly improbably jumps, formidably hidden Star Coins and all with just a time limit of 100 seconds to do it in,” reads the statement.

Thankfully, Mario’s younger brother comes with some new skills in tow, including faster movement and jumps that go both higher and longer. The only catch is that Luigi is tougher to bring to a halt, so fast reflexes are needed to control him properly.

Co-op makes a return with players being able to jump into the game as Yellow Toad, Blue Toad or Nabbit, a character that was introduced in New Super Mario Bros. U and, thanks to his invulnerability and ability to turn collected items into 1Ups, an ideal pick for new/younger players.

If you’re ready for Luigi to take center stage (again), then get to downloading New Super Luigi U for New Super Mario Bros. U starting today. Otherwise, you’re going to need to wait a couple of extra months to pick up that physical copy.
