World Of Warplanes Finally Launches Today

World of Warplanes is finally ready to take to the skies as Wargaming announces the official launch of the free-to-play aerial combat game for PC today, Nov. 14. In case that didn’t quite sink in: You can start dogfighting right this very second, free of charge.

Originally announced back in 2011, World of Warplanes has had a long, steady trip down the runway. The game finally took off into beta in 2012, updating with a new flight mode and spruced up graphics earlier this year.

More and more planes have been added to the roster over the year, beefing up the content and preparing the game for its final launch. Players can now log on, pick a plane and get moving through the wild blue yonder as World of Warplanes celebrates its official release.

“The release of World of Warplanes marks a great moment for Wargaming, and we are extremely excited to offer players the next great chapter in our gaming universe,” said Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi. “Just as we did for World of Tanks, we’ll continue to grow and evolve World of Warplanes with new content, nations, aircraft and game modes to keep our players fully engaged and always eager to take to the skies.”

According to an announcement from the developer, more than 4.5 million players took part in the game’s beta testing, helping craft the finalized version of the game launching today. Even cooler is the fact that a single premium status for Wargaming.net offers said benefits spread across both World of Warplanes and its predecessor, World of Tanks.

All player progression from the beta has now been wiped, meaning that everyone will be diving into Warplanes today on a level playing field. To check it out for yourself, simply head on over to the <="">, set up an account and get to playing right now.
