The Big ‘N has announced today that they have, as of course, very strong sales results for both software and hardware divisions. Leading the pack is the dominating Nintendo DS, which is closely followed by the record sales profits of the newly launched Nintendo Wii. Now who would have seen that coming?
Nintendo has led a strong financial raid on the market ever since it unveiled the highly sought after DS. Worldwide gamers of all kinds – both hardcore and casual – have eaten up the DS, leading to massive financial success for Nintendo. The company is stating record high recurring net profits for the nine-month period ending on December 31st. And according to the press release, “Nintendo maintains projections for record financial results through its fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2007.”
With both the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii selling very strongly in all sectors of the gaming market, Nintendo is reporting that their net sales are up by 72.8 percent in the nine month period, and 102.5 percent in operating income. • During the first nine months of the current fiscal year, consolidated worldwide shipments of 19 software titles for Nintendo platforms reached or surpassed 1 million units. These include three Wii titles, 13 Nintendo DS titles and three Game Boy Advance titles.
• Nearly 1.4 million Wii hardware systems have connected to the Internet worldwide (as of 1/24/07)
• Approximately 1.5 million Virtual Console games have been downloaded and sold to customers worldwide (as of 1/24/07)
• More than 3.5 million unique users have enjoyed game play on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Nintendo DS, with far more than 100
