Activision released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Awakening DLC expansion, the first of four expansions set to be made available for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The trailer features accomplished actor Peter Stormare as “The Replacer”, a step-in for gamers too busy playing Black Ops 3.
You can check out the hilarious trailer below that was posted on the Call of Duty YouTube channel.
The video sees Stormare replacing everyday, mundane tasks. He replaces a boyfriend on a date by talking down the father and being extremely physical with the daughter while flirting incessantly with the mother. He takes to the runway in an awkward session of strutting his stuff. He teaches a young boy about the birds and bees by handing him a tablet that's obviously playing porn. He's a replacement for the things you should be doing but can't because you're too busy having fun playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
After the halfway mark of shenanigans featuring Stormare as “The Replacer” – a role he's reprising since Black Ops and Black Ops 2 – we then switch over to take a look at the game's four new maps and zombie feature.
Previously we were teased with the “Skyjacked” map featuring a flying yacht of sorts – which is Black Ops 3's rendition of a map from the original Black Ops. This time around we get to see the other three maps in action, including the “Gauntlet”, which is an icy map that features a lot of winding, compact turns that keeps the action fast and tight. We unfortunately don't get to see a more zoomed out view of the map but it appears to offer a lot of pop-out and surprise shooting areas. Perfect for Killstreaks.
We get to see the map “Rise” as well, which takes place on the rooftop of a highrise skyscraper. It's a spacious map despite seeming compact. There are a lot of hub-type areas that lead to open spaces with multiple connecting routes, so I imagine it will be a good map for Domination and Uplink and will likely provide plenty of intense combat for PvP.
Last but certainly not least is the water park map called “Splash”. This map completely took me by surprise because it's extremely bright and is a “color splash” of visual poignancy. The eye-popping colors aside, the map is themed around the ins and outs of the water park, with tons of tubes and pipes and well-lit pathways giving gamers lots of opportunities to rack up the frag count.
The Awakening DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is set to go live on February 2 for PS4. If you already purchased the season pass you'll gain access to the Awakening DLC at no extra charge. If you don't have a season pass then you'll have to pick up the DLC separately. The new content will only be available to Xbox One, PS4 and PC users and it will launch first for PS4 owners.
