Dragon's Crown Headed To PS3 And Vita This August

There’s been a lot of talk about Vanillaware’s upcoming four-player hack-in-slash title, Dragon’s Crown, as of late but, until now, one very important bit of information has eluded us: A U.S. release date. Publisher Atlus promised it would be sometime this summer and, with a nailed-down arrival date of Aug. 6 officially announced; they’re just making it in under the deadline.

If you’ve somehow missed our ongoing coverage of Dragon’s Crown or the character reveal trailers for the Dwarf and Sorceress classes, Atlus PR Manager John Hardin recently dropped by the PlayStation Blog to fill everyone in on what they can expect.

“If you’re not familiar with Dragon’s Crown, it’s a 2D multiplayer action beat-em-up exclusive to the PS3 and PS Vita that features four-person co-op play, six character classes, skills that can be leveled up and all the dungeon-exploring, orc-slapping, treasure-seeking action you can shake a magical staff at,” Hardin offered.

Along with the Dwarf and Sorceress classes, players will be able to take on the role of an Amazon, Elf, Fighter and Wizard in this beat-em-up romp and, if the trend from the previous two weeks continue, we should be seeing a reveal trailer for one of those classes going up sometime this Friday.

Dragon’s Crown will set you back $49.99 on the PS3 and $39.99 on the Vita when it launches on Aug. 6. While a Cross-Buy and Cross-Play option is not currently planned, players who pick up both versions of the game will have access to Cross-Save, meaning you’ll be able to upload your save to the cloud and access it from either device.
