EA Employee Trashes Wii U, Says It's Crap, An Awful Console

The bitter blood between Electronic Arts and Nintendo continues as an EA Sports software engineer took to Twitter to lambast and royally trash Nintendo as if he were cutting a promo for a WWE pay-per-view. However, given the quality of the trash talk, I would say the promo was probably TNA quality.

Nintendo Everything caught wind of the textual bad-mouthing that took place against the Big 'N'. EA Sports' software engineer Bob Summerwill was engaged in a heated Twitter argument over EA's admission to dropping support of the Wii U so early into its life-cycle, saying...

The WiiU is crap.Less powerful than an XBOX360.Poor online/store.Weird tablet.Nintendo are walking dead at this point.Sony, MS, Apple, Google all following the same playbook … standard, powerful, hardware, with focus on software and services.Nintendo are still operating like it’s 1990.They should have “done a Sega” and offered Mario/Zelda as PS4/Durango exclusives. Instead they make this awful console, and this ...nintendo.com/wiiu/downloads….Just stop it!Just make great games! It is an utterly intentional decision to focus our resources on markets which actually matter … like mobile, and Gen4.Nintendo platforms have always been very poor revenue-wise for third parties.Only Mario and Zelda make money. Yep, we’ve got plenty of problems, but WiiU isn’t where that family/casual market is.It’s on mobile/tablet now!

Harsh.

I could venture to say that the reason a lot of third-party games don't sell well on Nintendo's “awful” consoles is because awful third party publishers push out awful third party games. I mean, no one told a top tier company to publish a bunch of trashy workout video games for the original Wii. They wanted to cash in, so top tier publishers made trashy workout video games for the Wii.

If publishers didn't like the crappy games they were publishing, there was always the opportunity to actually make something that wasn't crappy, or require lavish review parties to swoon the gonad-free gaming media to boost the Metacritic score because the game, deep down, sucks more than a teething baby attached to a mother's teet.

No one told THQ to make Udraw and bury the company's capital so deep that a triple colostomy wouldn't have been able to dig out any profit from their financial intestines. Heck, it'll take a miracle for Sega, 2K and Deep Silver to recover the IP that THQ screwed up worse than Steven Miller taking over as an account manager at H&R Block.

I mean, who actually bought crap like Smarty Pants? Worse yet, what kind intelligence-deficient flesh-suit wearing inbred would think that a game like that would sell? I won't even be bothered to name the company behind such a inept pile of software feces.

Anyway, the Worst Company in America two years running has assaulted Nintendo with bad PR since Nintendo decided not to adopt Origin as the core of their Nintendo Network, something that also cost Crytek an opportunity to showcase Crysis 3 on the Wii U.

I was beginning to think Electronic Arts was being reformed after they killed off their Online Pass program. But all the bad mouthing toward the Big 'N' certainly isn't helping EA's case, especially when they were part of the barrage of publishers churning out Metacritic bomb after Metacritic bomb of casual shovelware for the almighty dollar.

It seems pretty ridiculous that since the Wii U isn't the source of terribad casual crap anymore, EA is going to trash it publicly. But whatever, if EA wants to make the same kind of games that core gamers called 'crap', 'turds', 'digital vomit' and 'software so bad that it would be an insult to your rectum if it were food', for mobile phones and tablets, I say go ahead and good riddance.

I don't think we need anymore games like Ninja Reflex bringing down the prestige of the Wii U. I'm sure there's a blind kid in Africa who might find use for the Ninja Reflex case as a pair of makeshift sandals to wade through the sewer-quality river. Seems like that was the only thing that game was good for anyway.
