Luigi, Project X Zone, More Appear On Nintendo eShop This Week

Things are picking up this week on the Nintendo eShop with a handful of new arrivals on the Wii U, the 3DS and even a couple of sales to boot.

We'll kick things off with the big brother of the lot, the Nintendo Wii U. This week's big launch is New Super Luigi U, which is basically its own video game. So much so, in fact, a physical version of the game (featuring 80 new levels) is headed to stores on Aug. 25. If you don't want to wait that long, however, you can grab it this week off of the eShop as DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U.

Game and Wario also hits the Wii U this week, using that spiffy new controller in all sorts of new ways to let the player plow through dozens upon dozens of micro-games. Look for it to go live on June 23.

Other notable Wii U launches include Mario Bros. and Wrecking Crew on the Virtual Console.

The DSi is having a light week, with Rhythm Core Alpha 2 being the only game launching for DSiWare, which is also available on the 3DS.

And speaking of the 3DS, this week sees several new games added to the regular eShop and the Virtual Console. Project X Zone mashes game worlds from Namco Bandai, Sega and Capcom into a single strategy RPG and Lego Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey will let players take on adventures set in the new animal-warrior-filled world from Lego. Additional games will be available on the virtual console, too, including Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Bugs vs. Tanks, Farming Simulator 3D, Defenders of Oasis, Mega Man 6, Sonic Blast and Tails Adventure.

Not a bad haul for the eShop this week, but let's not forget those sales. Little Inferno will be discounted down to $4.99 until June 26 on the Wii U while Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo will be just $3.99 on the 3DS until July 8.
