Dynasty Warriors 8 XL Comes To Steam This May

Oh boy, even if you haven't been a big fan of Dynasty Warriors, you have to admit that Tecmo Koei's highly fan-favorite series coming to Steam is still massive news. In fact, it's epic news.

Koei recently sent out a tweet from their official Twitter account from right out of the middle of the soft spot under the devil's armpit, letting gamers know that Dynasty Warriors 8 Xxtreme Legends is coming to Steam in the United States and in Europe.

You don't even have to take my word for it, just check out the official tweet from Tecmo Koei Europe's account below.

Zing. That's what I'm talking about.

I haven't played a Dynasty Warriors game on console in quite some time. However, Gaming Blend's Ryan Winslett managed to get in some play-time with the game and scored it with an impressive 3.5 out of 5 stars. For a rehashed game based on a series that seems to be milked more than anything Activision has done in the past decade, I would say that's pretty darn good.

What's more is that Reddit users managed to get a hold of a screenshot of the game's option menu, where you can see how advanced some of the graphics features are, which you can view below.

Ohh, shader options, post processing, dynamic shadows, fog distance? Man, the Xbox One could have used some of these options to help bring down the effects in Titanfall to get the game to potentially hit 1080p instead of 792p.

Anyway, the XL version contains additional mini-campaigns, the new story mode for Lu Bu, new content for the Ambition mode, a Challenge mode, as well as new moves and characters. The last Dynasty Warriors game released on PC was the free-to-play MMO, Dynasty Warriors Online, distributed by Aeria Games. It wasn't a bad game, but it certainly didn't contain the sort of intense gameplay that makes the series stand apart from everything else... the biggest problem, of course, was that it was a faux-MMO.

Nevertheless, Dynasty Warriors 8 XL coming to Steam is great news for PC gamers looking to get in on a definitive version of the Dynasty Warriors experience. I'll definitely have a spot reserved to pick up a digital copy of the game as soon as it releases on Valve's prime-time distribution platform.
