The Evil Within Headlines 15-Game Launch Week On PlayStation

There are a lot of games arriving on PlayStation consoles today. Like, a whole lot of games. From horror romps to board games, world builders to, um, Duck Dynasty, there’s a little something for everyone gaming on the PlayStation 4, PS3 and Vita.

Fall is always a big time for new game releases but, even then, you don’t really expect to see 15 titles hit the virtual market at any given Tuesday. But, according to the latest lineup released by Sony, that’s exactly what’s happening in the PlayStation camp this week.

Amidst all of this awesomeness, a few big titles manage to stand out. And no, I’m not referring to that Duck Dynasty game I mentioned earlier. Unless that’s your jam. In which case, by all means, go have yourself a ball on either the PS3 or the PS4.

This being the Halloween season and all, The Evil Within has little trouble gaining top billing this week, the latest horror game from the legendary creator of the Resident Evil series, Shinji Mikami. If the idea of struggling to survive in a mental asylum gone horribly wrong doesn’t sound like your idea of a great way to spend a few evenings, then you’ll want to steer clear of this blood-soaked thriller that puts a big emphasis on making the player feel like a vulnerable bag of organs in a room full of spinning blades. Look for The Evil Within on PS3 and PS4.

Also hitting the PS3 this week is Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which takes place snuggly between the first and second Borderlands games. You’ll take on the role of Handsome Jack’s minions in this moon-based adventure, carrying out some dastardly deeds with guns aplenty.

Slowing it down about a million notches, you can enjoy Best of Board Games on the PS3 and Vita this week, which lets you play chess, Mah-jong and Solitaire to your heart’s content. If that’s too tame, then you could also jump into Dead Island: Riptide—Complete Edition for the PS3, bringing back last year’s zombie slaying hit with all of the added content rolled into one tidy package.

In Space We Brawl brings competitive twin-stick shooting to the PS3 and PS4 this week, with minimalist fencing game, Nidhogg, vying to become your new addiction on the PS4 and Vita.

If The Evil Within doesn’t take care of all of your Halloween needs for the season, then you might also be interested to know that Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut finally arrives n the PS4 this week, inviting players to explore a bizarre and twisted world where nothing is quite as it seems.

As announced last week, Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition is finally here, alongside Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 for the PS3 and Peggle 2 for the PS4.

Okay, we’re into the homestretch. Just stick with me for a couple more paragraphs and you can consider your weekly games shopping list complete.

Senran Kaguar Shinovi Versus brings its buxom brawlers to the PlayStation Vita this week, which will wrap things up for Sony’s portable console.

RPG fans gaming on the PS3 can dive into the strategic Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord, with the PS4 enjoying Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition and the entire first season of The Walking Dead.
