Halo 5 Teased In Halo: The Master Chief Collection Launch Trailer

You want your first look at Halo 5: Guardians? Well, you'll get a split-second tease of the information in 343 Industries and Microsoft's latest promo trailer for the upcoming Xbox One exclusive, Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

It's hard to gauge how excited gamers are for Halo 5 given that there's so many big games dropping this fall. What's definitely apparent is that gamers are extremely excited about The Master Chief Collection because it represents a return to one of the classic forms of interactive entertainment: having fun.

The launch trailer does a fine job of building excitement and reminding gamers what made them fall in love with the series in the first place. However, that's not all that's been revealed lately. 343 Industries also made it known that the 20GB patch will no longer be 20GB.

Having people load the game up on day-one and have to download 20GB worth of patching is just kind of insane. Well, Gamespot spotted a post from Eurogamer who noted that the day-one patch will no longer be 20GB.

343 Industries' Dan Ayoub commented on Twitter that the day-one update is available right now for those who pre-ordered the game. Additionally, the update is only 15GB, with 343 using their compression magic to shrink the load by 5GB. It's not that big of a difference but for people who have to worry about bandwidth caps and blasting through a lot of data a month, sparing yourself having to download 5GB can help a crap-ton. In fact, that's maybe two-and-a-half hipster indie games that you can download and install from Steam.

Even still, removing some of the weight of the 20GB day-one patch is a much welcomed thing. Additionally, you won't have to download the update to actually play the single-player or cooperative campaigns from Halo: Combat Evolved to Halo 4.

I'm going to be completely honest: Even if I don't buy this game day one (or fail to make time to play it for months to come) I will definitely buy Halo: The Master Chief Collection. I don't really care about the Halo 5 multiplayer beta, but this packaged bundle feels like a real throwback to actual gaming and that makes me excited... as a gamer.

I imagine there's going to be plenty of sleepless nights, bad breakups and late arrivals at places of employment due to Halo: The Master Chief Collection dropping next week. My advice? Stock up on the food now so you don't have to go out later. I'm sure if the Doritos Pope was still actively promoting games the way he did before Doritogate he would have told you drink your Dew, eat your Doritos and game all night long. This one's for you Doritos Pope... this one's for you.
