The voting will take place between December 22nd and December 30th, as indicated by the nomination list. Each voting round to determine a winner will take place over the course of 24 hours. So you'll have a full day to vote on the game that you feel deserves to win in the listed categories.

They have plans on announcing all the winners on New Year's Eve, December 31st, to give gamers a good end-of-the-year send off to see which games came out on top as the Game of the Year.

The interesting thing about it is that there are a ton of games on that list that are kind of old, from Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2, to Don't Starve Together and Portal 2... that's not to mention the older Far Cry games on the list. A lot of gamers nominated stuff made many years ago, with very few titles from within the last few years making the list. Farming Simulator 2017, Civilization VI and DOOM were the top picks from 2016, and only DOOM was a multiplatform, AAA title out of the three.

It really goes to show that gamers don't seem to have a lot of confidence in the newer crop of games that have come out in the last few years from big budget production studios, and the Steam Awards is a far cry from the nominees picked for Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards. Nevertheless, you can check out which games will win in their respective categories come December 31st.
