Pokemon Sun And Moon Adds Four New Mega Stones

Legendary guardians from Pokemon Sun and Moon

For Pokemon players wanting to beef up their roster in Sun and Moon, Nintendo has announced that a collection of four new Mega Stones are being made available in the game. Better still, you don't even have to leave the house to get them.

Nintendo has revealed that a new collection of Mega Stones are now available in Pokemon Sun and Moon, giving Pidgeot, Heracross, Steelix and Houndoom an extra boost of power, according to Gamespot. If you want to add them to your own in-game collection, all you need to do is boot up the game and head on over to the Mystery Gift screen. From there, you need to click on the option to input a password and type in "AZUL." Easy, right? Once you do that, you can load into your regular game in Sun or Moon and head to any Pokemon Center in the game to retrieve your prize.

Mega Stones are a pretty recent addition to the Pokemon universe. Basically, you attach them to the correct Pokemon and said critter will have the ability to Mega Evolve in the midst of battle. A Mega Evolution temporarily changes the look of your Pokemon, making them look more menacing than ever. They also gain perks like boosted stats and even extra z-moves. The change might also alter their elemental type, too, adding an interesting new level of strategy to team building.

For some odd reason, the developers decided to give Mega Stones a pretty big break in Sun and Moon, opting instead to give select Pokemon new Z-Moves, which have a similar effect when it comes to turning the tide of battle. Still, they're a part of the game and, even if they aren't as big a focus in the new Pokemon, players need the ability to get their hands on those all-important Mega Stones. That's why Nintendo has been hosting special events like this since the game launched. Either as a mystery gift, through a password or codes grabbed from shops like GameStop, they're slowly but surely getting all of the Mega Stones back into the mix.

And speaking of GameStop, they've got their own Pokemon promotion kicking off in just a couple of days. Starting May 15, you can drop by the games retailer and pick up a special code to introduce a "Midnight Form" of Lycanroc to your roster. If you're intent on catching them all, you'll probably want to get your hands on one of those codes with a quickenss.

As for you readers, anyone out there still playing Pokemon Sun and Moon? Do events like the ones noted above encourage you to keep coming back for more? Let us know in the comments below.
