4 Things That Need To Be Part Of Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games recently dropped a new trailer for the upcoming open-world Western game, Red Dead Redemption 2. The title is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, but there are a few things present in the trailer that remind us that it needs to be more than just another Rockstar outing.

In fact, Red Dead Redemption 2 most certainly needs to follow-up on what was portrayed in the trailer, but in an integrated way so that many of the things we see actually become playable elements in the game. Obviously, the official website for the game doesn't guarantee or verify much when it comes to what's going to make an appearance in the open-world shooter, but this list covers the four things that need to be part of Red Dead Redemption 2 when it releases this fall for PS4 and Xbox One.

4. Bare-Knuckle Brawls

Late in the third trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 we see that there's a segment in a dark place, lantern-lit, and surrounded by a bunch of rowdy folks looking to see to men beat the living crap out of each other. Now we don't know if bare-knuckle brawls will actually be in the game or if it's just a fixture for the latest trailer, but given that you could throw hands in the first two Red Dead games I don't see why you wouldn't be able to in the third one. What's more is that Rockstar needs to take cues from Ubisoft's bare-knuckle mini-game from Assassin's Creed III and let players travel around the final days of the frontier, fighting for a bit of spare cash and infamy.

3. Stage Shows

In Grand Theft Auto IV Rockstar Games introduced the ability to go visit miscellaneous events scattered around Liberty City. This included going to comedy clubs, strip clubs, and other social gatherings. Rockstar upgraded the experience in Grand Theft Auto V, adding pool parties and other events to the game. It would only make sense that the preview of the stage show in the trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 be an actual event in the game where you can attend it at your own leisure. It would add a much-needed element of downtime away from shooting, robbing, riding horses and fighting; a little something-something to keep the player's interest without it being a typical gameplay loop.

2. Custom Weapons

We've been teased with the ability to customize weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2 since Rockstar first introduced a Red Dead weapon into Grand Theft Auto Online, giving gamers the impression that custom weapons would appear in the game. In the third trailer for the open-world Western, we find out that there are various types of custom-made weapons wielded by certain characters. How cool would it be if if players were allowed to gather up certain kinds of crafting material and have their very own custom pistols and rifles made? Teasing players with the possibility of acquiring custom weapons is one thing, but it definitely needs to be part of Red Dead Redemption 2's core features.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Train Robberies

1. Train Robberies

This has been a recurring theme in the trailers for Red Dead Redemption 2. We constantly see the sort of looming, hulking presence of a coal-powered train barreling ominously down the tracks during many of the clips within the trailers for Rockstar's upcoming title. If there's going to be any sort of longevity or replayability attached to Red Dead Redemption 2, being able to plan and carry out your very own train heist would need to be part of the core gameplay. GTA V had the heists, but there's a whole other element of intensity involved with boarding and commandeering the goods from a moving train. It would be Red Dead 2's equivalent of the heists, and could really add a lot of flavor to the game.
