LEGO DC Super Villains Comic-Con Trailer Introduces The Justice Syndicate

One of the big surprise announcements this year was actually from the LEGO Group and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, when it was announced that LEGO DC Super Villains was inbound. What makes the game so shocking is that it's not a typical LEGO-style game where you're commanding the heroes and saving the day, the game is the opposite: you're playing as the villains this time around. During this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros., and LEGO released a new trailer for LEGO DC Super Villains in order to highlight the all-new group in the game known as the Justice Syndicate.

The trailer gives gamers nearly two whole minutes worth of footage for the upcoming title.

The trailer starts with Harley Quinn skating around, looking at an announcement of the Justice Syndicate on a tablet screen. The group proclaims to be there to help, but Harley draws faces over them and says that the weirdos are impostors there to take over.

The story actually centers around the Earth-1 tale where the Justice Syndicate comes down and ends up sending the original Justice League away using a dimensional portal, and proceed to rampage through the city.

The Justice Syndicate end up turning out being even worse villains than the normal supervillains. After wrecking the city and causing havoc, the supervillains of old decide to recruit more villains to help them fight against the Justice Syndicate.

This kind of answers one of the biggest questions I originally had about LEGO DC Super Villains, insofar that we were left wondering exactly who you would be facing off against in the super-villain game if you were playing as the villain? Well, now we know.

This is also where the player-character comes into play, as the customizable villain (hero?) will be left up to the imagination of LEGO fans. You'll be able to alter their hair, skin color, costume, design, accessories, and their powers.

In a way, it's like Warner Bros' answer to Ubisoft's South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Except, oddly enough Warner Bros., is letting gamers take on the role of a villain instead of the hero.

It's pretty cool insofar that you'll be able to choose your powers and team up with other popular DC villains in order to take down the Justice Syndicate. It's very similar to the animated film Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths, which also featured the Justice Syndicate and a crazy cool plot-twist involving Owlman.

You'll be able to create your very own super villain and take part in crime while saving the world from other super villains in LEGO DC Super Villains once the game releases on October 16th, 2018 later this year for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
