Everyone loves free games. Everyone loves free games with no strings attached even more. If you're totally into getting your hands on games that are available for free, well Humble Bundle is conducting a special giveaway for a limited time only that sees the digital distribution outlet handing out a free game with absolutely no strings attached. No, really. I know most of you were probably raised to believe that you never get anything good for free, and that all good things come with a cost, but in this one rare case you can put that maxim on a shelf and indulge in the free game that Humble Bundle is giving away.

Over on the Humble Bundle store page, there's a landing for a game giveaway. The game is none other than Relic Entertainment's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, which is the 2011 third-person shooter that THQ published way back in the day for the seventh gen consoles on Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as on Steam for PC. After THQ's dissolution, Sega swooped in to pick up the rights for the game.

From the end of August to the beginning of September, gamers can get their hands on a free copy of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine... for free!

According to the frequently asked questions section at the bottom of the page, the game is completely free to acquire and there are no strings attached. Once you add the game to your game library, it's yours to keep... forever (or so long as Steam stays active).

The FAQ states that the game was approved by the developers to be given away for free, so this isn't some scenario where a shady third-party reseller dumped a bunch of keys at the doorstep of Humble Bundle and then the company decided to give them away to the public all while Sega seethed in the background.

To get the game all you have to do is click on the big green "Get The Game" button on the Humble Bundle store page.

The team will be live-streaming Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine throughout the day in order to lure in a few stragglers and keep a few eyes glued on the page while the game downloads in the background.

The game itself is well worth a playthrough. It definitely captures the Warhammer vibe perfectly. The weapons feel meaty, the melee combat is gruesome and very satisfying, and it's one of the rare times that a Warhammer game felt like you were truly on the battlefield engaged in a deadly fight for supremacy.

It's kind of a shame that Space Marine never got a sequel, what with all the issues that THQ went through leading into their bankruptcy, but at least you'll be able to check the game out for free if you haven't given it a playthrough already.

Take note that the graphics are kind of dated at this point when it comes to the texture resolution, so you'll definitely need to crank up the anisotropic filtering to help compensate for a game that was originally made for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Otherwise, you have up until September 1st to grab a free copy of the game from the Humble Store.
