2K Boston, the studio that created the first BioShock, is changing its name. It will now go by "Irrational Games," the name it used before being purchased by Take-Two Interactive in 2006.

IrrationalGames.com now shows a countdown timer that will end early next week. Game Informer reports that when the new site is unveiled, it will feature "an array of cool community features, insight into the game creation process, and never-before-seen tidbits about games like System Shock 2, Freedom Force, and BioShock."

BioShock 2 is currently being handled by 2K Marin, leaving Irrational to focus on an unannounced project. The "return of Irrational" will be a feature article in the February issue of GI and who knows, maybe we'll find out a little more about their mystery game. The rumor is that it's a new X-Com.
