Today Blizzard Entertainment announced the dates for BlizzCon 2009, the fourth annual convention showcasing their games. It will take place from Friday, August 21 to Saturday, August 22.

Once again, BlizzCon will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center. Here's a list of things to expect, all of which should be familiar to you BlizzCon vets:
  • Hands-on play time with upcoming Blizzard Entertainment games
  • Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
  • Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
  • Community contests with great prizes
  • Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard Entertainment's game universes
  • A silent auction
  • More exciting activities and attractions to be announced
No details on the ticket pricing or availability were revealed but they'll be announced at a future date on the BlizzCon website. BlizzCon will be held in four convention halls instead of three this year to meet the increasing demand.

Blizzard tends to release some pretty big news at BlizzCon - in 2007, for example, they announced the second World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. Could they reveal the release date for Diablo III or StarCraft II at this year's Con? A man can dream.
