With all the press surrounding Halo 3 it seemed like the game was just getting out of hand with the way it was being handled by the media. So we decided to put up an article about the over-hype of a feature that wasn’t quite as expansive as a similar feature in Haze. Guess what? Well, people retorted with a lot of protest.

A lot of people, though angry and misguided, felt that Haze had no authority or pull in the industry, and thus didn’t deserve the hype that Halo is receiving. However, a reader brought out a very good point after reading the editorial about Halo 3's multiplayer cop-out. He mentioned that if Haze needs Halo's hype, it needs to be hyped like Halo. So being the kind folks that we are, we’ve decided to listen to the readers and start up a hype-trail for Haze.

Where does hype begin and what is its purpose? Well, hype starts with the media and it ends with the media. The famous, resonating phrase “When the world stops watching the world stops caring...” couldn’t be more true, even in this case. Within this particular scenario we’re going to make sure that gamers are completely abreast with all-things Haze. In fact, we’re actually going to purposefully hype Haze.

Now just so we’re clear, this is not for the benefit of Ubisoft, nor is this being done in favor of Ubisoft...plus I don’t think they like us very much. Anyway, to be perfectly honest, this is being done for the sake of adverting the footsteps of a very stubborn and shallow generation of the media.

While those numbskulls talk tripe about Halo 3 in USA Today, Entertainment Weekly and every other big name magazine and media outlet out there (e.g., purely for the sake of its marketing power and surely not for the fact that those journalists know a darn thing about the gaming industry). CB Games will be trailing Haze, providing as much information and news on the game as possible. As one of our readers brought out, Haze will only be recognized for its hype if the media hypes it. And you know what, I think readers deserve to have a game that’s hyped around here as much as Halo 3.

So what does this mean for CB Games readers? It means that you’re going to have a lot more news about Haze coming your way; including screenshots, trailers, editorials and comparisons between some other big name games. This also means that by the time November rolls around, you’ll be begging us to put a cap in the flow of Haze news. So get ready folks, CB Games is officially on the road to hype Haze.
