Super hero movies are generally released in the summer and it seems fitting that a super hero MMORPG would arrive around during those months as well. Atari confirmed today that Champions Online will be released in June for the Xbox 360 and PC.

The MMORPG is based off of the pen-and-paper RPG Champions and was announced by developer Cryptic Studios last February. The game's original publisher was 2K Games but they dropped the project when Atari's parent company Infogrames purchased Cryptic in December. Now it's Atari's show.

Champions Online allows players to create a super hero with its own custom appearance, superpowers, and arch-nemesis. The game is currently in closed beta, which you can apply for at the official website.
