Hardcore empire-builder, Europa Universalis IV, is set to launch its Conquest of Paradise expansion on Jan. 14, but eager players who can't wait to experience the Native American content can go ahead and claim their copy as of this very minute, as the DLC is now available for pre-order.

Coming from Paradox Interactive and developed in-house by Paradox Development Studio, Europa Universalis IV has captured the imagination (and sometimes the blood lust) or gamers the world over, allowing players to take control of a budding civilization and then build into a super power via any means necessary. You can rely on slow expansion and diplomacy, take the world by storm through force, or just get yourself to a comfortable size, build your economy and eventually buy your way to the top.

Similar to games like Civilization, Europa Universalis leaves it entirely up to the player what kind of world leader they want to be and, with the upcoming Conquest of Paradise expansion, they'll now have even more lands to explore and civilizations to advance.

Europa Universalis IV Conquest of Paradise allows you to send ships off to the West to discover a new world, unlike any you've seen before, with a completely randomized American continent,” reads the expansion press release. “The expansion also makes it possible to play as a Native American nation and master the federation mechanics, as well as unique national ideas, buildings and events. You may also take command of a Colonial Nation, declare colonial war, or even strive for liberty from your motherland.”

For a special look behind the scenes of the Conquest of Paradise expansion, Paradox has put together a handy developer diary for fans to enjoy. The expansion will be available in physical and digital forms on Jan. 14, but you can go ahead and pre-order it now for 15 bucks or, via Steam, you can grab it for a discounted $13.49.
