If there is one thing that has consistently been a virus in the Halo franchise it has been with the difficulty. Whether with one player or four, the Halo games have been plagued with easiness. However, this newest Halo, aptly named ODST, is not quite the walk in the park that previous Halo games have been and a new gameplay trailer verifies that.

Now the trailer comes from some cam-footage that GameTrailers took from the San Diego Comic-Con. The footage follows four-players as they battle wave after enemy wave in the FireFight mode. It’s not all that intense but it does show a striking change in the pace of Halo 3. First of all, these guys aren’t Master Chief; they can’t take repeated blows, gunfire or grenade after-effects. The ODSTs die pretty quick and that means that gamers have to stick-and-move unlike previous entries in the series. No recharging shields here, folks.

Another startling change that will be sure to keep the difficulty high, is the lack of being able to dual-wield certain weapons that the Chief can. This means that hosing down enemies with any and all kinds of different combinations of devastating weapons is now very much limited. Unlike the Chief these guys can’t handle two-handed weapons with one-hand and that radically changes the pace and difficulty of the gun-fights.
