Hyrule Warriors Legends To Receive Season Pass DLC

Nintendo didn't seem to put a whole lot of effort into the DLC for the Wii U version of Koei Tecmo and Omega Force's Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U, but they definitely see a lot of potential with the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. They've announced that there will be a season pass for the handheld hack-and-slash title.

According to Polygon the details went live during the Nintendo Direct, where the company revealed that when Hyrule Warriors Legends launches on the Nintendo 3DS starting March 25th at the end of the month, it will come with a full season pass for the 3DS title that will also unlock some content on the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors as well.

According to the post, some of the characters and bonus costumes will include things like an extra outfit for long-time Legend of Zelda villain Ganondorf, as well as Tetra from The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. Tetra will also be joined by others like the Skull Kid from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Medli, another Wind Waker character.

The DLC characters unlocked for Hyrule Warriors Legends will also be cross-compatible with content unlocked for the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors, this includes adding Medli and and Tetra to the home console version of the game as playable characters. Nintendo didn't detail what the season pass would cost for the game or how long the season pass would last, but gamers may possibly find out after they buy it and after the game comes out.

It's interesting because this news was not met with the most open of arms by some gamers, given the fact that most gamers do not want to have to re-buy the game on the Nintendo 3DS with a season pass just to unlock a couple of new characters for the Wii U version of the game. The major problem is that the real appeal of Hyrule Warriors was on the Wii U, where the graphics were big and crisp and the frame-rates were mostly stable.

The biggest issue with the game on Nintendo's handheld is that if you don't have a new 3DS there are a fair amount of complaints about the original Hyrule Warriors running rather poorly and that the constant frame drops and low frame-rate averages prevent the game from playing smoothly.

Others just aren't fond of the fact that Nintendo appears to want to get in on the DLC and season pass game that other companies like Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and Activision have dipped into with reckless abandon. The vague details on what all you get in the season pass and the fact that there's no actual stop date on the content or how much of it will be cross-compatible with the Wii U version of the game have left plenty of people with a sour taste in their mouth.

Even still, some gamers are just happy that a season pass is coming to Hyrule Warriors Legends and they can't wait to get their hands on it and the game when they become available on March 25th, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
