Ubisoft announced today that Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond will be leading the company's new Toronto studio. The studio is set to open later this year.

Raymond is a twelve-year veteran of the industry and currently executive producer for Assassin's Creed II at Ubisoft Montreal. She's been at Ubisoft since 2004. In the past she's worked as a programmer and producer for the likes of Sony Online Entertainment and EA (thanks, Gamasutra).

Ubisoft's plans for a Toronto studio were first revealed in July. They intend to invest $500 million in the location and create 800 new jobs. Ubisoft has yet to announce any projects for the studio but it will spearhead the company's efforts to expand into the film industry.
