Maybe that Wheel of Time RPG isn't such a pipe dreamafter all. Today Red Eagle Games, the main developer of the project, announced that Fallout: New Vegas studio Obsidian Entertainment will be assisting with the project.

The agreement "provides a comprehensive framework for Obsidian Entertainment to work closely with Red Eagle Games' in-house development team" to make PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 games based on Wheel of Time. A quote from Red Eagle CEO Rick Selvage in the press release calls Obsidian a "development partner." Obsidian is the studio who made Neverwinter Nights 2 and Knights of the Old Republic II so whatever their exact level of participation is with Wheel of Time, their experience should be a boon to the project.

Red Eagle Games was launched in 2008 by film company Red Eagle Entertainment for the express purpose of making WoT into video games. Last year, EA signed on as the distributor for these games.
