Sad news for OnLive players; it looks like the multiplayer functionality for Kane and Lynch 2 missed its August 31st deadline and will instead become active starting September 14th.

For anyone who paid for the game already it’s just a matter of having to wait it out a little longer…two weeks longer. For those poor saps out there who paid the rental price of the game, well…you’re just out of luck if you were expecting any multiplayer functionality.

The reason for the delay wasn’t exactly explained in a service letter issued regarding the hold up. It simply says…
We want to let you know that we will be enabling the multiplayer features of KL2 on the OnLive Game Service on or around September 14, 2010, which is slightly later than originally anticipated. We apologize for the delay, but we’re busy making sure that the game is in good shape to commence play!

Better delayed than never, eh? Well, time will tell. Hopefully this doesn’t become a trend for majority of the newer games on OnLive that come packed with multiplayer functionality, because otherwise I could see plenty of people getting pissed about paying for stuff that isn’t there. Then again, it's not like Kane and Lynch 2 is that great a game, so it's probably better to spend time playing something else.

Anyway, for more info be sure to visit the Official OnLive Website where you can test out the service or learn more about cloud gaming.
