The national Pokemon tournaments are nearly upon us. In fact, the first wave of national battles will take place between June 25th and June 27th. The nationals are the next step before heading into the Pokemon World Championships, in which case…a world champion Pokemon player will be crowned.

According to the press release – and this stuff is important so pay attention…
Pokémon video game and TCG competitors from across the nation will converge on the Indiana Convention Center in hopes of enduring a weekend of action-packed battles. Those that prove victorious will then test their skills against the best players from across the globe at the 2010 Pokémon World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, August 14–15.

The doors for the last-chance-qualifier rounds will open Friday June 25th where senior and junior division registration(s) will be made available. When all is said and done the top 16 players from that day will compete in the national division tournament the following day.

Top contenders from the nationals will be invited to partake in the world championships in Hawaii where players from more than 25 countries will be present to take the crown of the 2010 Pokemon world champion. Seems kind of prestigious, eh?
