Project CARS Delayed Again

March is no longer in view for the launch of Slightly Mad Studios' Project CARS. The game has been delayed by a few weeks and will now launch on April 2nd, 2015 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Sadly, there's still no release window in sight for the Wii U.

Videogamer.com is reporting on the recent press release that Bandai Namco sent out regarding the new release date for the game, detailing how the game will be moved into the early part of April.

Ian Bell, the head of Slightly Mad Studios, commented about the game's minor delay, stating...

"Moving a release date was not an easy decision to make, as we know our fans are eager to get their hands-on on Project CARS," … "But we know that these extra days will allow us to provide the best game experience that our fans deserve. We assure you the wait will be worth it when the game does arrive early April."

The delay isn't surprising to anyone who has been following the game.

Project CARS is definitely coming along nicely, but there are a few things that the game needs to be a tip top contender to other AAA racing franchises either currently on the market or scheduled to arrive on the market.

One of the biggest complaints about the game is that the physics systems for some of the cars aren't quite where they should be to capture the actual feel of the vehicle. For a lot of the cars Slightly Mad Studios has absolutely nailed the look and feel of the vehicle, especially when it comes to some of the comparison videos between real-life and Project CARS. For instance, one of the latest comparisons, from YouTuber, Yoong3d, almost showcases an indistinguishable difference between real life and the game. As noted by CGB...

“I have to remind myself that the footage on the left side is indeed Project CARS and not real life, it looks simply incredible. Added to the realism is the heat haze we see which matches that of the real life footage.”

That's actually a grand observation, because I didn't actually notice the haze. I was more-so paying attention to the ever-so-slight cam rocking that happened every time the Bono hit a bump or took a sharp corner. It was one of the things I had mentioned in earlier articles as missing from the car-cam, but it looks like Slightly Mad Studios fixed it up nice and neat as they head toward the new April release.

For those of you disappointed with the new release date and the constant push-backs, keep in mind that Project CARS is an indie project. It was crowd-funded. This isn't a traditional, publisher-funded project like Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo or Need for Speed. Gamers put their hard-earned money into this, and Slightly Mad Studios put their time and effort into it at the cost of the community's dime. Bandai Namco just stepped in for distribution purposes, but this whole project has been a labor of love between developers and gamers.

Now let's just hope this turns out decent for the Wii U.

Project CARS is set for release on April 2nd for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
