If a movie's popularity were judged merely by number of posters sold, then Scarface would be the most beloved film of all time. Scarface posters adorn walls at a rate only slightly less than that of dogs playing poker. When guys think about building their dream room, their purchasing list usually includes a pool table, beer on tap, and a cliché Scarface one sheet.
So with all the lingering Scarface love out there, the game industry clearly needs to do more to cash in. Don't worry. They are. Say hello to my little friend, Scarface: The World Is Yours.
The game had originally been slated for a fall 2005 release, but never made it. In fact, GameSpot reports that its Xbox 360 version was cancelled altogether last month. But now Vivendi Games is back to pushing their Scarface title, and they've announced that it will finally hit on Xbox, Playstation 2, and PC on October 8. At the same time, they're pushing a strategy game called Scarface: Money, Power, Respect for the PSP.
Guys, better make room for a TV and a game console in that dream room.
The price will vary depending on which system you're buying for. On PC, Scarface: The World Is Yours will run $39.99, while the console versions will cost ten bucks more. Unless of course you want the "Collectors Edition" for the PS2. That'll run you $59.99 and gets you a map of the in-gam world, a metal case, a bonus DVD with "making of" material, and a tommy gun. Ok, no tommy gun. I made that part up.
I still regret not picking up the "Collector's Edition" of Halo 2 when I first bought it, so if you're a Scarface, the safest move here is probably to shell out the extra ten bucks. It'll save you peace of mind later.
