Side-scrollers typically don't blow you away with their graphics but Frozenbyte's Trine is certainly an exception to the rule. Frozenbyte has released a new gameplay trailer that proves that a game doesn't need a new-fangled third dimension to look good.

In Trine, players must traverse levels using the unique talents of three characters - the Wizard, the Knight and the Thief. At one point in the trailer, the Wizard holds up a bridge with telekinesis so the Knight can cross. It's sort of like that old game The Lost Vikings.

Unlike most side-scrollers, Trine's the characters and objects are all 3D with realistic physics so they feel a lot more "real" and interactive than hand-drawn sprites ever could. The game will also support drop-in, drop-out co-op so you can play with a friend. Trine will be released digitally on PSN and the PC in June.
