Weekly Recap: Nintendo Kills Wii's Multiplayer And 5 Other Big News Stories

From hints at the potential Left 4 Dead 3, to Rockstar responding to getting sued by a soon-to-be-washed up reality TV star, things just kept on rolling high and fast in the world of interactive entertainment this week.

In fact, Watch Dogs continued to dominate the news headlines like wonder-boy Brendan Boyle managed to win the house seat in the 13th district of Philadelphia with a Rocky-sized K.O to take home a tree-hugging position he can proudly show his parents... and teachers. There was also a little matter of Nintendo shutting down the Wii and Nintendo DS online multiplayer, a move that's sure to burn some players the wrong way like an ignition switch in a General Motors automobile.

And finally, Pete Hines from Bethesda Softworks finally puts his foot down regarding Fallout 4 news... sort of. These thrilling stories and more in this May 24th, 2014 edition of the Gaming Blend Weekly Recap.

Watch Dogs Graphics Rundown

All things Watch Dogs transpired at the beginning of this week, leading us toward plenty of graphics comparison and other great tidbits of entertainment. Halo 5 won't be coming to the Xbox 360, despite a lot of gamers asking for it. Titanfall on PC has lost two playlist modes. World of Wacraft's Warlords of Draenor's alpha has been delayed. Persona 4: Arena Ultimax is currently available for pre-order and Disgaea 4 is due for release on the PS Vita this August.

Xbox One External HDD Support Teased

Because that's exactly what gamers want... to be teased about being able to store their games and save data on an external hard drive but not have access to it. Awesome. Great. Nice going Microsoft. Rumors have run strong that YouTube could be buying Twitch. PSN will get tons of new games this week with Transistor and Wolfenstein. The PS3 emulator can now run Sonic CD. Ubisoft also made it known that Watch Dogs can run at the ultra settings on a mid-ranged GPU. NBA 2K15 is adding Turkish teams from the Euroleague, and Microsoft makes sure that Kinect will get full support even following the new June 9th circumcision date.

Wii And DS Multiplayer Shutdown

Nintendo has gone and done it, shutting down the WFC for the Wii and Nintendo DS. Various new games are made available on PlayStation Plus. Additional details about Far Cry 4 have been leaked. Jet Car Stunts had previously not been on the radar for the Xbox One, but now things are changing up for the better. Plextor has announced that they're giving away free SSDs all the way up until 2015. There's a list of things in Hearthstone that might drive you crazy. And Halo 5's design director condemns the whole insider aspect that has grown considerably over the years.

GTA V Housewife Lawsuit Gets A Response

One of the reality TV stars suing Rockstar Games over Grand Theft Auto V finally got a response from Rockstar. That's well worth checking out if you have some time in your life to devote to a bit of gossip. The Tales of-style Kickstarter JRPG from a French studio could be coming soon to a Wii U near you. Watch Dogs still trips and falls over itself, as the game has recently leaked on torrents for the Xbox 360. Despite all the controversy, Tomodochi Life has been updated with some startling new features. Valve has launched Steam's in-home streaming service, and the homebrew community has rescued the Wii and DS' online gaming communities.

Minecraft Is Coming Soon To Xbox One And PS4

It's now set: Minecraft will launch on the Xbox One and PS4 this August. If you can't wait for August, you can take refuge in some brand new details for Drive Club and Jet Car Stunts right here and right now. Metro Redux has been announced for the Xbox One and PS4, and it's yet another HD-deficient outing for the Xbox One. On the upside, though, Wolfenstein has been proven to be graphically identical on both the PS4 and Xbox One. Shocking, I know. And Nintendo has taken Mario Kart 8 national, as the game is being promoted in the recent NASCAR series race.

Conan Reviews Watch Dogs

Well, why not? Team Coco reviews Watch Dogs and hilarity ensues (because if it didn't, that would be embarrassing for everyone involved with the production). In addition to this, there's also some new Watch Dogs comparisons between PS4 and Xbox One, as well as a look at the PC version of the game running on Ultra versus the E3 2012 version. Gaming Blend's Ryan Winslett gives Moon Chronicles the review treatment, Bethesda's Pete Hines responds to the overwhelming feedback regarding Fallout 4, and there's finally some news about Left 4 Dead 3... but don't get your hopes up too high.
