The upcoming next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony are powered by AMD's new line of APUs. To give people an idea of how powerful the new processors are, AMD released a new trailer called “Be Invincible”, featuring sleek martial arts fighting in a sci-fi universe with a heavy edge of Tronism tossed in for good measure.

VG 24/7 has a rather detailed write-up on the new APUs that power both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Given minor differences in the architecture (i.e., the XB1 uses an octo-core CPU and a separate AMD GPU, while the PS4 uses an embedded APU that combines both the GPU and CPU on a single die) both systems carry very similar functionality on an x86 setup. The trailer is basically a showcase of what's possible on both consoles given the chip designs, and not necessarily made to give either console the benefit of processing power for next-gen gaming.

While the specs for both consoles have been revealed, we have yet to see any true gaming capabilities save for a few brief snippets of demo activity during the PlayStation 4's reveal back in late February, including Killzone: Shadow Fall.

I'm sure a lot of what we see at E3 next week during the stage demonstrations for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be just as good as the above promo trailer from AMD. Heck, it would be pretty neat if we actually got a game like that...the fighting was pretty slick.

I guess we'll all find out just how advanced the next-gen of gaming will be in a few days.
