A goofy new trailer was released to help promote the upcoming competitive multiplayer FPS game, Gotham City Imposters. The new trailer details how players can customize their own hero/villain and take to the streets administering justice in some really odd ways.

First thing most people might notice about the game is how cartoony and lighthearted it looks…in other words, this ain’t Battlefield 3. Next up, the weapon cache is strangely familiar, sporting shotguns and rifles you’ve seen in many other games (most of which look like they came straight out of TimeSplitters) but there are also quite a few unique weapons that are entirely original to Monolith’s shooter.

So what did we learn here folks? That Gotham City Imposters plays like Unreal Tournament set in the Batman universe with a hint of SpongeBob running through the veins. The character customization looks fairly diverse and the gameplay seems to be borderline frenetic.

I guess if you’re into the breakneck speed competitive shooters but you’re looking for something more off center and comical, then I guess you’ll probably want to keep an eye out on Gotham City Imposters, which is aimed to release digitally for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2012.
