It was no secret that in 2007 it was Daft Punk, not television, that ruled the nation. Perhaps the French electronic dance duo – fore fathering an immense Parisian DJ movement whipping the indie world by storm - were inspired by the massive success of their return to the stage because they are surprisingly, back in the studio recording new music. Pedro Winter a.k.a. DJ Busy P revealed to In The Mix Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter’s plans for new music, as well as shockingly announcing he is stepping down from managing the guys after 12 years.

As founder and head honcho of Parisian techno motherload Ed Banger Records, Winter says, “I’ve stopped working with them really recently, because I want to focus and concentrate on Ed Banger and my artists, and my own career as Busy P.” There is, however, no release date for the new material in site with Winter acknowledging Daft Punk’s meticulous musical planning. “They are slow, you know. They are taking their time, and they have a right.”

Winter’s Ed Banger Records has been shoved in it’s own share of limelight when Justice took off with + last year. This summer, much of the Ed Banger crew including DJ Mehdi, SebastiAn, Kavinsky, and Busy P himself are touring extensively throughout Europe.
