It’s pretty cliche to bash Metallica now-a-days, crucify them for not producing a truly progressive record since 1988. In all honesty though, much of the criticism is warranted. Their first four efforts Kill ‘Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets, and ...And Justice For All were all brilliant. Unfortunately, The Black Album was below-average and their last three were almost complete garbage. In an effort to rectify this debacle-filled decade, Metallica has fired producer Bob Rock and hooked-up with musical genius Rick Rubin.

According to NME, the currently untitled follow-up to St. Anger will find the group exploring their 80s metal roots. Thank God. We need more “Four Horseman” and less “Fuel.” Yes, that is what I desire. UWHA! I can’t help but think things would have been different if Cliff Burton would have survived his tragic bus accident. For some reason, I just can’t picture him willfully participating in Re-Load. The record hasn’t received a hard and fast release date yet, but I would expect it to fall during the spring of 2008.
