By now, I’m sure you’ve all heard about the ongoing writer’s strike and the effect it will surely have on your favorite television programs. I love the boob tube as much as anyone else, but I was originally excited about the news, falsely assuming some of Cinema Blend’s television staff would be transferred to my department. After all, the Writer’s Guild Of America couldn’t possibly impact music, right? Wrong. I failed to realize how many bands perform on The Late Show With David Letterman, Conan, and countless others.

According to Ireland Online, troubled singer Amy Winehouse has been cancelled by Saturday Night Live. The announcement came just hours after the strike began. The pop star hasn’t officially commented on the decision, but one would assume she’s at least slightly miffed. After all, opportunities to play SNL don’t come around on a weekly basis. Here’s to hoping she’s invited back whenever production restarts.
