Subscribe To Hero Blend #90: Our Expectations For X-Men: Apocalypse Updates
With its domestic release date set for next week, Captain America: Civil War is soon going to dominate headlines, but we’re going to hit pause to talk a bit about Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. The film put out its final theatrical trailer a few days ago, and it’s schedule to arrive in theaters in less than a month. So let’s ask the big question: what exactly are we expecting from this film?

The X-Men franchise has already had an incredible 2016, as Tim Miller’s Deadpool was an absolutely smashing success and now ranks as the highest grossing title in the series. That being said, it’s been hard to know what to make of X-Men: Apocalypse. There are some big question marks that remain, from how audiences will feel about the titular villain (who didn’t get the greatest reception at his introduction last summer), to the band of young mutants being played by Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Ben Hardy. Is Mystique’s role a bit too big for the character’s legacy? How will the movie build toward the future? We talk about all this and more in our latest installment of Hero Blend.

Joining me to talk about the upcoming blockbuster, which will be in theaters on May 27th, is Cinema Blend’s own Sean O’Connell – who is like me in having some significant anticipation and troubles with the direction of X-Men: Apocalypse. Enjoy the show!
