Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's The Tourist has just been screened for Sony Pictures bigshots, and they were very pleased. So pleased in fact, that Deadline says they've decided to bump it up from the dolrums of February 2011 to a release date in the hotly contested holiday season. December 10th will see the film, starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, go up against David O'Russell's The Fighter starring Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg, along with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Besides that however, there really hasn't been any buzz, positive or negative, surrounding the film. The Tourist, a remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer, will see Depp play an American tourist visiting Italy. He meets Jolie's character, and soon after, they both find themselves pursued and in danger.

Not a whole lot is known concerning the specifics of the film either. It will be director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's second film, having previously wrriten and directed The Lives of Others in 2006. The Tourist also stars Paul Bettany, Timothy Dalton, Steven Berkoff and Raoul Bova
