Avengers Assemble For Patriotic Propaganda Posters

Captain America

Are you ready to assemble with Marvel’s The Avengers? Graphic artist Adam Levermore is. He went ahead and created a series of patriotic, WWII-inspired "recruitment" one-sheets for each of the main Avengers heroes, from Captain America (above) to Thor and Iron Man (below). They were picked up by Buzzfeed and are making the rounds … because they are awesome.

Black Widow and Hawkeye

Thor

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Hulk and Iron Man

Only the Hawkeye and Black Widow one makes me a little bit sad. Is Levermore trying to say that they aren’t "Super?" That’s got to hurt their feelings. I mean, sure, they aren’t blessed with the powers of an Asgardian, and they haven’t been injected with Super Soldier Serum (or infected by gamma rays). Does that make them less of an Avenger? Argue amongst yourselves.

The posters are available through ThinkGeek, which collects the complete five-poster set for $34.99. Would you want to hang them on your wall?

I wonder how old these are? I mean, we don’t get a good look at anyone from the upcoming Marvel sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron. Levermore could have attempted a one-sheet with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who are expected to be major components of Joss Whedon’s next movie. Maybe he’ll try an Ultron poster when we get closer to the 2015 release date of the next Avengers movie?

Truthfully, the possibilities are endless. If fans drive traffic to Levermore’s site and snatch up prints to his creations, he could do The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), a villain series with Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and The Mandarin (Sir Ben Kingsley). Now those I’d hang!

To catch up on everything that we know about Whedon’s sequel to date, read Eric’s in-depth feature, which covers all of the bases. And enjoy this all-too-quick Age of Ultron video tease, which screened in Hall H at Comic-Con and does just enough to whip Marvel maniacs into a frenzy as they wait to see what Whedon and his crew have in store for us next.
