Beautiful Creatures Featurette Showcases Lena And Ethan's Forbidden Romance

The feature adaptation of the first book in Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's Caster Chronicles series Beautiful Creatures arrives in theaters next week, just in time for Valentine's Day. And it just so happens that the latest featurette for the film is focuses on love. Titled "Forbidden Romance," the video showcases the relationship and budding romance of teens Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert).

Directed by Richard LaGravenese, the film follows Ethan as he meets and falls for Lena, who comes form a family with extraordinary powers and who has powers of her own. When Lena turns sixteen, she'll be claimed for the Light or the Dark, which will determine her fate as a Caster.

The featurette below comes courtesy of iTunes and walks us through the various aspects of the story, from when Lena and Ethan meet to Ethan soon coming to learn just how different Lena is.

The cast and director discuss the two worlds that exist, Ethan's desire for something different, which he certainly gets with Lena, Lena and Ethan's budding relationship, Lena's uncle's (Jeremy Irons) disapproval of that relationship, and, of course, the dark and powerful magic surrounding Lena's life, which will play a crucial role in her future. From what we see, Ethan is determined to stay by her side no matter what. In addition to showcasing the romance, the featurette also gives us a better look at the cast, the costumes, and the interesting look of the setting fits into this modern day supernatural love story.
