If there’s an exact opposite to today’s modern political correctness then John Milius’s 1982 movie Conan the Barbarian is it. The film exists in a world of, well, barbarians where men are men and women are women. That means men take what they want, usually in front of a fire on large animal rug and only after consuming large quantities of meat. For the remake, well I just don’t see how they’ll be able to capture the same aesthetic. How will they get away with it? I don’t know, but it looks like maybe they’re going to try.

Conan Movie Blog has new photos from the Conan remake set and they feature Jason Momoa as Conan reclining in his tent with ale and women and all the things a barbarian warrior in repose should have at his fingertips. The women are, also, rather naked and… barbarian in nature. That means he’s not surrounded by a bunch of waify supermodels, but lust barbarian babes of all shapes and types draped around him. You can’t see one in the pictures, but I feel certain there’s an animal skin rug somewhere near by.

I’ve included safe for work versions of the images below but to get the full, Not Safe For Work, barbarian effect click over to Conan Movie Blog.

The new Conan stars Jason Momoa as Conan the Cimmerian, the role originally made famous on film by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ron Perlman and Rose McGowan co-star in this film directed by Marcus Nispel, slated for release some time in 2011.
