The Bride Wore Blood In Red Band REC 3 Trailer

A wedding is a time for solemnity, celebration and joy as two people join hands and bind their lives together until death do they part. Of course, for some death comes fast. In [REC]³ Génesis, the third infected persons thriller from Paco Plaza, the heinous blood-borne virus that turns civilized people into flesh-craving monsters has escaped the apartment building plagued in [REC] and [Rec] ², and made its way to what was a charming wedding. You know, until the guests stopped clamoring for the bouquet and started clamoring to devour the newlyweds.

We got a glimpse at some of the carnage last year, when a Spanish teaser dropped. But now [REC]³ Génesis is revving up for its American debut and so Magnet has unleashed a slick and grisly new trailer. You can check out the red band version below, or see the green band in hi-res at Apple:

Leticia Dolera (Man Push Cart) stars as Clara, an otherworldly beauty who is forced to fight for herself and her new husband Koldo (Diego Martin) on the day of their wedding. Even from this brief look at [REC]³ Génesis, it's clear Plaza is taking the concepts of the virginal survival girl to strange new places. But there's more to marvel than just the ghastly gore and striking collision of a wedding dress drenched in blood paired with a threatening chainsaw.

For one, there's the title's implication that the origin fans know of this vicious virus, wasn't its beginning after all. And buzz holds that not only will [REC]³ Génesis tie into the first two films' narratives, it will also set the stage for [REC} 4: Apocalypse]. But perhaps best of all, it looks like the franchise that helped resurrect the found footage genre has abandoned the now tired convention for this adventure, opening [REC]³ Génesis up creatively to be something well worthy of the Magnet slate.

[REC]³ Génesis hits iTunes August 3rd; a limited theatrical release will follow on September 7th.
