The finale of Superhero Summer 2011 is close at hand. In just under a month Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger will drop in theaters and close out the Marvel solo movie universe before The Avengers launches next May. This morning we got a brand spanking new poster for the film, and now we have a brand new trailer.

Based on of the classic comic character, the film is about a young solider named Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) who is desperate to fight for his country against the Nazis in World War II. To sickly and skinny to enlist in the army, he undergoes a medical experiment that makes him the embodiment of human perfection. Facing off against the world's greatest threat, Johann Schmidt aka The Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) he must do everything in his power to stop the forces of evil.

Who isn't totally pumped for this movie after watching that trailer? I'll admit that I'm kind of a sucker for the music of Tool, but this movie looks ridiculously action packed and even a bit humorous (the "He's still skinny" line definitely put a smile on my face). This summer's blockbusters have been ridiculously hit-or-miss so far, but hopefully Cap can swing in and save the day.

Captain America: The First Avenger drops on July 22. For more on the film, including trailers and images, be sure to head over to our Blend Film Database.
