One of the reasons that Captain America's costume looks so fantastic for The First Avenger is because it's perfectly suited for the period in which the film is set. Everything from the loose fitting pants to the stenciled wings on the helmet fits in with the 1940s military style. But when Cap is brought into the modern world he's going to see that his fashion choice is a bit outdated, so naturally it will be time for a costume change.

MTV recently spoke with Chris Evans, who confirmed that Captain America will be getting a new set of threads for when he joins up with Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk for The Avengers. Evans recently traveled down to Albuquerque, New Mexico to do a camera test with the new suit, which he calls "pretty rad." The problem? He was just getting used to the first suit. Said Evans,
"I was worried because I started to get really attached to the old one. I really started digging it. It's not that easy to move in, but I started really liking it. The first time we tried a new one on, I was like, 'Oh, I miss the old one.'"
While I can't say that this was too unexpected - they introduced both the Mark IV and Mark V suits in Iron Man 2 - I am kind of upset that they are making him change. While I'm still a bit wary about how The First Avenger will turn out, one thing that's for certain is that the costume is perfect. That said, I look forward to seeing what the modern suit looks like.
