Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Release Date Slated For August

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's lengthy beta is almost at an end. Valve has revealed that they plan to release the counter-terrorists vs. terrorists shooter to the public by the end of the summer.

CS:GO will be on sale starting on August 21st. It'll be available through Steam, PSN, and Xbox Live. The price is set at $15 for all platforms.

Global Offensive is a modern remake of a game that originated as a Half-Life mod in 1999. Teams of counter-terrorists and terrorists face off in objective-based matches. It quickly became a classic thanks to the one-shot deaths, realistic recoil and quick matches.

Valve and Global Offensive co-developer Hidden Path Entertainment updated all of the classic content from CS. They've also introduced new modes, weapons, characters. Additionally, the game's been brought up to today's standards with features like matchmaking and leaderboards.

I imagine there are a lot of young gamers out there who have no idea what Counter-Strike is. It's a damn shame because you can see its DNA in a lot of modern-day multiplayer shooters today, including Call of Duty. Hopefully you'll check out Global Offensive and find out what all of us old-timers have been raving about.
