They did computerized vocals before Kanye West even heard of them, and their music videos definitely have the feel of a trip into some kind of alternate dimension. So really, there's no possible better choice to do the music for Tron 2 than Daft Punk-- and thankfully, Disney has picked them.

The news is being reported by the Upcoming Film Scores blog, with pretty much no other information other than that the Daft Punk guys have signed on. This will be their first complete score for a feature film. I am now officially lobbying for the two members, Guy-Manuel de Hornem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, to score some kind of cameo in the computer world of Tron. Look at that picture of them at right! It couldn't possibly be that hard to squeeze them in.
