The New Deadpool Red Band Trailer Is Way Over The Top And Hilarious

It's Christmas time, and, as has been promised over the last couple weeks, Deadpool has delivered us our favorite gift of the season. The brand new Red Band trailer for the R-rated superhero movie is out, and it is guaranteed to get you psyched up for the new film. Check it out below!

Are you sold on this movie yet? I don’t know how you couldn’t be. After years of promising a very different kind of superhero movie full of over-the-top violence, profanity, and insanity, the film has fully delivered in its first extended preview. I can’t think of many other movies based on comic book properties featuring the titular hero cutting of a guy’s head and then kicking it at a group of other baddies:

Deadpool

As we see in this trailer, released by 20th Century Fox, Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, a mercenary who finds his life falling apart when he is diagnosed with cancer in his liver, lungs, prostate and brain. Not quite yet ready to leave the love of his life, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Wade agrees to sign up to an experimental science program that promises to cure his disease... but what they really want to do is turn him into a superpowered slave. As a result of painful experiments, our hero winds up with the ability to heal from any injury, but the catch is that it completely drives him insane and leaves him looking like a shriveled walnut. Donning a red suit and taking on the name Deadpool, he starts a campaign for revenge, looking for Ajax a.k.a. Francis (Ed Skrien), the man in charge of the program that changed his life forever.

Surely one of the most exciting elements of this trailer is not only the impressive amount of new footage, but also the new looks that we get at both Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic actually delivers some lines as the metal covered mutant, which is more than we saw from the preview that launched this past August, and we also get our first look at Brianna Hildebrand showing off her special set of skills. In the comics, Negasonic Teenage Warhead is a telepath who has the ability to foresee the future in her dreams, but it appears that the movie version is going to be more about harnessing energy and then using it with explosive force.

It’s hard to believe, but Deadpool is actually almost here – set to arrive in theaters on February 12th. Feel free to watch the trailer above until the play button wears out (Pro Tip: it doesn’t), but you can also head over to Page Two to watch the brand new Green Band trailer as well!
