Entourage Circles A 2015 Release Date

You see? Summer 2015 isn’t going to be wall-to-wall superheroes. There are going to be more than a few "super" egos in the mix, as well.

Warner Bros. Pictures revealed (via ComingSoon) that the upcoming Entourage movie will arrive in theaters on June 12, 2015. That means it will face off against Colin Trevorrow’s wildly anticipated Jurassic World. (And to dig into everything that we know about THAT sequel, click here.)

Entourage creator Doug Ellin announced the start of production recently, and we already know that the entire cast from the defunct HBO show is returning for this feature-length story. That includes Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Jeremy Piven, Rex Lee, Debi Mazar, and Perrey Reeves. Emmanuelle Chriqui will play Sloan, while and Rhys Coiro will play Billy Walsh.

The cast will be joined by Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment, playing father and son Larsen and Travis McCredle in the movie, which is being scripted and directed by Ellin.

The movie, of course, almost never happened. Executive producer Mark Wahlberg dropped hints in the press that "greedy" people were preventing the long-in-gestation movie from lensing. It later was revealed that Piven was the one dragging his feet over money. But contracts were resolved, and so we are off and running.

The Entourage movie has shoots planned in L.A. and Miami. We don’t have a lot of details about the plot, though if you stuck with the show over the course of its cable run, you know that it will poke fun at the interior of the film industry, this time promoting Piven’s super agent, Ari Gold, to a full-blown studio head.

Entourage now belongs to the elite group of former television programs finding new life in theaters. Veronica Mars is bringing its act back to movie theaters next month, satisfying fans who were disappointed that their favorite show went off the air. Meanwhile, a show like 24 -- which is trying to get a movie off the ground – comes back to television sets with a new "season" soon.
