Over the last several months, the producers of the Power Rangers movie have been announcing each member of the movie’s superhero team, as well as the movie’s villain. Now, that the team has been assembled, we have received our very first look at the five teenagers with attitude. Check it out.

At first glance, we’re wondering if the Power Rangers movie has already struck an endorsement deal with a major clothing manufacturer, as this looks like it might be out of an American Eagle Outfitters catalog. But no, it actually comes from Entertainment Weekly, who is providing the first picture of the five Power Rangers together. From left to right to you have RJ Cyler as Billy - the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly - The Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack - The Black Ranger, Becky G as Trini - The Yellow Ranger, and Dacre Montgomery as Jason - The Red Ranger.

While seeing the five actors together for the first time is nice, it ultimately tells us very little about the movie. Each of these actors has been individually announced over the last several months so we’ve had some time to get familiar with the choices. The actors are virtually unknown, which was an intentional decision by the filmmakers. The racial and gender makeup of the team is very similar to that of the original group, though in some cases races have been changed up. This helps fix up the unsettling visuals from the original TV series, where the Black Ranger was African American and the Yellow Ranger was Asian American.

The one thing that this image does imply is that we won’t be seeing a Green Ranger, at least in the first film. The character of the Green Ranger was very popular among fans, but he was added to the team later so it wouldn’t be surprising that he’s being left out of the origin story film. The only other major casting announcement is that the film’s primary villain, Rita Repulsa, will be played by Elizabeth Banks. The Power Rangers movie will directed by Dean Israelite.

The image comes on the heels of the official plot synopsis being released a few days ago. While the basic story set-up of "teenagers chosen by destiny to fight an alien threat" won’t provide anything new to anybody who remembers the original series, it does give us a bit more insight into the types of characters that these kids will be. The TV series never gave them too much time to develop as a 30-minute episode with at least two fight scenes didn’t allow for character analysis, but the movie looks to give us a bit more to work with.
