After seeing and reviewing Diary of a Mad Black Woman, I pretty much decided to boycott Tyler Perry’s movies for all eternity. While critics panned his first effort and Madea’s Family Reunion, moviegoers flocked to theaters and made both films huge hits. Perry seems to have the Midas touch, even if his appeal is lost on many.

According to Hollywood Reporter, his next Lionsgate film, titled Daddy’s Little Girl, will star Gabrielle Union (The Brothers). She has made her mark in countless TV shows from “Moesha” to “The West Wing”, and now she wants to give Christian values and screwball comedy a try.

Written by Perry, Daddy’s Little Girl is a reverse Cinderella story. When a successful attorney (Union) falls in love with a janitor (a single dad with 3 kids), the relationship irks her father who was hoping she’d marry someone wealthy. The film is being produced by Reuben Cannon and will shoot this summer in Atlanta.
