He’s no longer directing The Hobbit, there’s a chance he’ll make another Van Helsing movie; what’s going on with Guillermo del Toro? What’s he doing, what’s he not doing and, most importantly, what’s he doing next? Guess what? We’re actually going to find out, but we’ll have to wait until Comic Con.
Just the other day del Toro posted an official statement on his site (via Collider) guaranteeing answers are on the way.
Comic Con runs from July 21st to the 25th, so we only have a little over a month to go. Now that’s much better than doing things Hobbit style, jumping from rumor to rumor until something official is finally announced. When the day to reveal his next project does come, I’m hoping Van Helsing isn’t the topic of conversation. Stephen Sommers’ travesty only came out in 2004; I still need more time to recover. Plus, wouldn’t you think the guy could come up with some freakishly fantastic ideas of his own?

Van Helsing (writing and producing) is still in talks and not quite certain. Even then, I would like to share my plans only at COMICON. I am taking it slowly and marking very, very carefully the calendar of projects that I will be involved as producer, writer, etc I will not announce the project I intend to direct until then . I am very happy to say that all the projects and partnerships being considered are both quite surprising and, I hope, powerful. Much as I want, I cannot say much more at this time but I anxiously await to share these with you. I will be shopping on the floor in San DIego for several days. See you there!!
